The Lake City of Udaipur

This has been without a doubt our favourite place to visit yet. Our hotel , The Hill lake Hotel, is very nice, with a nice clean bedroom overlooking the beautiful Pichola Lake. It has a sweet  little roof top garden that we have loved having breakfast on every morning, with our cute hotel manager chatting…

The blue city of Jodhpur and the Mehrangarh

Away from all of the chaos of the main streets, high up on an old hermits cliff, sits the Mehrangarh( yet another word I struggle to pronounce), the great fort of Jodhpur. Sitting into of an already 120m rock face , it them has walls that reach up to 36 meters surrounding it, and thick…

Jaisalmer- Hot Hot Hot

As you can see I’ve sort of given up on the day count- I can’t even remember what day it is let alone the number so there’s no point !  It is very hot here, we temperatures easily reaching 40 degrees so we have to make sure that we try and stay out of the…

Day 7- Something we will never forget…

Moving from bad to best, we were then fortunate enough to be going on a overnight camel safari. After getting near to Jaisalmer, the most western part of India where we will be going, we then turned of the road and drove 1 hour into the desert heading towards Khuri sand dunes.  After a small…

Day 6- Something We’d rather forget…

So after leaving the lovely Mandawa, we moved onto Bikaner. We are lucky enough to have a man, who we have nickname name Alfred ( as in Alfred from Batman, because he’s so cute), drive us from place to place. When he said that we should go to a temple outside of Bikaner, off the…

Day 3- Red fort

After a rather interesting experience involving groups on men trying to funnel us towards their shop, we decided to get a taxi to the Red Fort, instead of walking!  The fort was built around the 15th century and , especially considering the architecture England was producing at this time, it is an amazing monument. The…

Day 4- Peace and calm

Today we were given our own driven to take us around Dehli and show us the last few sites. I find it way to easy to get lost in Dehli, so this driver was a god send 😀 The first place we went to see was Ghandi’s tomb, which is found in a  giant garden,…

Day 5- On the move

So today we left Dehli and we start our travels around Rajasthan.  First stop … Mandawa  After a 5 1/2 hour car journey we arrived in this tiny little village. It has one main road and then narrow passage ways leading off from this.  Before the British took over India, this was where a lot…

Day 2-  We’ve arrived !

So we have both arrived in Delhi, which is full of the hustle and bustle of India. After a slight delay at the airport, we were then on the road to our hotel with a rather hair raising, but fun taxi journey.

And …here…we..go

So we’re off! Currently sitting in the department lounge feeling excited and nervous at the same time! Thank you to all the well wishers , we will take as much luck as we can get; I’m sure we’re going to need it ☺️
